Lexical Cartography of Scientific Communities

The Lexical Cartography is a visual model to understand scientific communities that counts 1,000 scholars, like conferences.

Authors’ texts are parsed using the algorithm TF-IDF; succesively, shared tokens are transformed into network relations.

At the first glance is possible to grasp the community as a whole, and by zooming it is possible to discover smaller communities working on the same subjects.

The Lexical Cartography is a ongoing project. So far, it has been applied to DH2019, AIUCD2020, COVID-19, and DH2020.

Further details are included in the conference paper Mapping as a Contemporary Instrument for Orientation in Conference.
